'Quick! Press play! Are you ready for your quest? '

This is the view from which to you I write.

Yo yo yoooo! Guess what kids?? It's time for....

BLOG NUMERO TWO!!

Today i added to my repetoire of mixing technology and water. The portable telephone got it this time. Thankfully it survived the ordeal. Unlike my laptop which still hates me.

So my lovelies, what has happened this week?

It started in a haze.

I had to send off my entry for the Student Radio Awards but true to form, my brain waited until 24hrs away from the deadline for the lightbulb to appear above my head, BOOM!
It dawned on me that i could download the trial version of the software that got lost with my laptop water catastrophe & use that to make my entry!
YES!

This resulted in a day of editing induced insanity & bad health.

Nevertheless i got it done & dusted! Fingers & toes crossed for the nominations thank you please.

I then got roped into making a Zelda themed obstacle course around the house.

Don't ask.com

After all the fun & games I then had some time on my miniture hands to find some music for your needy ears.

When i first saw the words Fat Boy Slim i won't lie i was tempted not to bother listening. But I'm so glad I did! Make sure you do too. Here's the link ->

Fat Boy Slim & Herve - Machines Can Do The Work (Reset! Remix)

Judging by this lots name, Vodka & Milk should maybe probably definitely steer clear of bartending. Well it's a good job that their remixing is as sick as their ethanol & dairy combinations then isn't it.
Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know (Vodka & Milk Remix)

I think i'm a little bit in lust with this next song. Mustard Pimp never fails to please.
Designer Drugs - Riots (Mustard Pimp Remix)

( i've just seen a someone walk past with a really fluffy little dog & pink bag that looked like a watering can. cute.)

Ok so this excites my electro senses a bit too much. It was out on 20th July. DO IT.
Dexplicit - Trouble in Space

So I used to love Uffie but then realised that her little face probably wouldn't appear in a picture
dictionary under the term lyrical genius but hey her music aint at all too bad for booty shaking. Spesh when it gets remixed! 10 points to the 1st person who deciphers all those darn acronyms!
Uffie - ADD SUV (Carte Blanche HMV APC BTW Mix)

When first listening to this next one, i hoped for all the people in china that the incredible original of this song wasn't about to be massacred. Rest assured China, It wasn't.
Massive Attack - Teardrop (Knight Riderz Remix)

Very Bloody Beetroots-esque...nothing wrong with that at all!
Tiga - What You Need (CLKCLKBNG Remix)

Ignore the overly large intro to this one, theres a little electro twist that salvages all!
Jully Black - Running (Torro Torro Remix)

So in the words of the my childhood hereos. That's all folks!

***

Here's some pictures of my wonderfully creative surroundings this week. Enjoy!

p.s. lesson in life. don't drop a box of matches in your lap. pain in the arse.

While ((URY)) is Away, Coco's Blog Comes Out to Play!

Well hello there and welcome to the first Coco..Electro summer blog to make up for the lack of Monday night electro due to ((URY)) being off air outside of term-time. Sad fact of life I'm afraid.
But anyway!! As well as topping you up with the ol electro juice through the medium of this here blog I may as well give you an update on my recent shannanigans too!
Right so I said goodbye York & hello Mama & Pops house! After a rather heavy last week of uni, my week at home was a little slice of heaven; AMAZING food, supplement pills galour and a serious dosage of sunshine. It also resulted in me getting in touch with my reggae side slash love of diplo and putting this song on repeat! (Click to Listen) I have no idea why. It must be a summer thing

But true to form I then got bored of the whole moving home & being a child again so I moved to Bristol! And thats when pause turned to play on the insanity record once more...

Point proven.

We began the weekend with WILDER, my best mates band, hosting one of their takeover parties on their synth players boat.... oh yes.

It was an awesome night fuelled with face paints, laughing gas, lots of very happy people and music that could be heard the other side of Bristol...perhaps I shouldn't have stood next to the speaker, then maybe I could actually respond to questions instead of nodding my head & looking bemused...

But yeah, WILDER are pretty darn awesome so check them out. Here's their single which will convert you to the wilder side!

Wilder - Girls Vs Boys

So post-party-mong-a-thon has resulted in finding these songs which I think will do much to satisfy your electro buds:

Miami Horror - Don't Be On With Her

Jack Beats is back with a tune sure to get every dance floor bop bop boppin

Jack Beats - Out of Body

Foxtrot ft Kendahl Gold - (Kids at the Bar Remix)

The Living Graham Bond - Skimmer

This one's for Bec (aka Little Bit)

Lykke Li - Little Bit (Autoerotique Bootleg Remix)

RIDICULOUS.com

Groove Armada - Won't Kneel (JSaxton Remix)

oh and ps. water + laptop = coco is unlucky with technology. FACT.

so actual musical update isnt the best of quality. but never fear I will be back with more!!

It was actually really refreshing to go to a house party last night which wasn't blaring out dubstep or minimal techno but instead some serious soul & funk!

Grandmaster Flash - White Lies

The party was explorer themed...cue weird photos:

witty.com

This house party was a lot more civilised than the one i went to the previous night which can only be paralelled to hell. a lot of people falling into holes. and i don't think i will ever forget the smell of their compost box being thrown into the garden. gagtastic.

...but the guy doing a running jump into a pile of dog poop was entertaining enough!!

So with university momentarily in a different galaxy, the rate at which my knowledge progresses has decreased considerably. oh dear.

for example. things i have learnt so far:

1. 'social gun' is another name for a camera.

2. that is all.

So now its just a case of rain, rain go away so Coco can go to the art gallery and not stay inside for another day.

BUT with every day passing in Bristol, the more i think I am in wonderland...

Alphabeat are back! Must admit...think i'll prefer the remixes

4. TEZ - Jawbreaker

Met this guy at a CocoRosie gig in leeds, he's their beatboxer. He did a 5 min beatbox and it just blew everyone away! He was making bass that would wipe the floor with most sound sysytems! Legendary. Also does his own stuff so he gave me his CD & I thought it was so darn good that it deserved some air time!

www.myspace.com/tezshimer

I found these on itunes somwhere. Nintendo remixes. hellssss yeah!

TRACKLIST FOR MONDAY 24TH MAY

I have a serious soft spot for this lot. Never fail to get my limbs wobbling and my face screwing!

www.deathcrew77.com

2.Beach Boys - Good Vibrations (Stanton Warriors Remix)

Had Caroline with me on the show & her rather old-man taste in music meant that beach boys managed to find a wee slot. Of course I had so put a Coco..Electro style slant on it!

www.stantonwarriors.com

3.Robots In Disguise - Wake Up! (Timezone LaFontaine vs. Scream Remix)

Can't beat angry slash excitable girls shouting over the top of some heavy electric vibes.

www.myspace.com/bartbmore

6. Little Dragon - After The Rain (Trackademicks Remix)

Ok so you should know by now that Little Dragon are my favourite band these days but they dont entirely fit into the electro domain, so naturally I dug deep into the depths of that thing they call the internet & surfaced with a tidy remix. Satisfaction tastes sweeeeet.

7. MSTRKRFT - Bounce (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)

Thought they TBB were so hot with their own stuff, I wanted to see how they handled the land of remxing...they came. they heard. they destroyed my speakers.

Oh and if your were wondering...MSTRKRFT is pronounced 'MASTERKRAFT'...for all those who like me spent far too long calling Deadmau5 'Dead Mau Five'. Ooops.

8. Diplo & Benzi - Alabama

Not really electro. But I can't get this song out my head & it's SUCH A SUMMER CHOOON!

9.Maluca - El Tigaraso

Signed to Mad Decent, Maluca seems to be filling the shoes of Santigold & M.I.A as they have disappeared..:( althought word of the vine is that M.I.A is recording her new album. WOOP!

10. Lady Gaga - Alejandro (The Sound of Arrows Remix)

Gaga is back with what will probably be played to extinction in clubs for next month so I thought I'd get the remix firmly entrenched in my memory first so I can imagine what it sounds like half decent. Although I must admit, she's done it again & made it sickeningly catchy!! That woman!

11. Nina Simone - Little Boy Blue (Postal Service Remix)

I was challeneged to play Miss Simone so I stepped up and found this beauty! Postal Service never never fail to impress with their covers! Never.

From their new EP 'Avalanche' which was out on the 10th May. By the sounds of that, I can't wait for the album!

www.myspace.com/takutakahashi

Who'd have thought it ey, Beyonce.
