SOUND HEALERS VOL II

Yesterday I handed in my dissertation, which was the last ever piece of blood, sweat and tears that I had to sacrifice for my degree. 

Because I have adhered to the strict regime of 9-5 life for the past 3 months, I have evolved somewhat into a middle-aged housewife, which, as you'll all be pleased to know, meant that the first thing I did upon being released into the big wide world, was to buy mushrooms and mop my kitchen. 

Watch out, I'm a ferocious bad ass. 

Today, however, I am allowing myself to do an unknown activity of non-work, and what better soundtrack to accompany my first day of that delicious nectar they call freedom, than Sound Healers Vol. II. (source: XLR8R).

XXXY - I KNOW THIS (CAN'T BE LOVE)

I am a single woman and so by definition, any mention of the word "love" especially expressed in musical form should degrade me into wallowing pit of bitter jealously. I can't lie, that is usually the case...film's are the worst. BUT, and that is a big BUT, this track by XXXY suceeds in making me feel very warm and fuzzy inside. So much so that it has actually made me feel happy for those in love AND has inspired me to make a mixtape dedicated to love. Damn this is a good song.

LEE BANNON - CALIGULA THEME MUSIC EP

When I first saw the title of this, I managed to conjure an image of my 15 yr old self violently punching the controller of my PS2 in an attempt to successfully raid Caligula's casino on GTA San Andreas, and so was expecting nothing less than the sounds of bright lights, ringing slot machines and the faint drill of gun fire.

What I got was quite the opposite and I was all over it. Particulary "Caligula Themed Music" and "Form of Nothing".

Sod the quasi-Vegas battlefield. Think a group of friends blissing out on a warm summer evening, tea-lights in old jam jars, a smoky haze, the infrequent chink of a glass, a slight breeze and by gosh you're there.

Pretty sure the first track, Sherlock, will be the sound of this summer.
